Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address -- used for account identification and login
- Full name -- used for display within the app
- Account role -- whether you are a parent or student
- Password -- stored in a securely hashed format; we never store or have access to your plain-text password
Study Session Data
When students use the app during study sessions, we collect:
- Session start and end times
- Active study time and away time durations
- App foreground/background transition events
- Penalty and reward calculations based on focus adherence
Subscription Information
If you subscribe to Study Shield Premium, your purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect or store your payment card details. Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, our subscription management partner.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Study Shield service
- Enable parents to create study plans and monitor student progress
- Track study session focus and calculate rewards and penalties
- Manage your account and authenticate your identity
- Process and manage premium subscriptions
- Improve and develop the application
3. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers, solely to operate the app:

- Apple App Store / Google Play Store -- processes in-app purchases and subscriptions according to their respective privacy policies

4. Children's Privacy
Study Shield is designed for families, and student accounts may be used by children under 13. We are committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.
- Student accounts are created and managed under the supervision of a parent account
- We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service (name, email, study session activity)
- We do not serve advertising to any users, including children
- We do not share children's personal information with third parties except as described in this policy for service operation
- Parents can request deletion of their child's account and all associated data at any time by contacting us
5. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt algorithms
- Authentication tokens are stored in encrypted device storage (SecureStore) on mobile devices
- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- API access is protected by authentication and rate limiting
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and study session data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain information.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data stored in the app
- Correct inaccurate information in your profile
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your data upon request
